Are you prepared to travel?

Fiona regularly travels the length and breadth of the British Isles in “Belinda” her Berlingo van and will perform anywhere in the world. Some of her past engagements have even taken her as far afield as Japan, the Outer Hebrides and Northern Europe. These have included performances in France, Belgium and Italy.

Do you have your own Equipment?

Yes – Fiona is completely self contained and has her own quality sound system. This consists of Microphones, leads, amplifiers, 4 x 300 EV speakers plus 2 x EV ZX1s which she uses for her every day smaller shows. Depending on the type of event Fiona will engage a sound engineer and can comfortably sound up to 2000 people.

Do you have Public Liability Insurance? Are you DBS checked and is your equipment PATs tested?

Yes – As a full member of equity Fiona has Public Liability Insurance up to £10,000,000. She also has an Enhanced DBS Certificate making it possible for Fiona to work in schools and with vulnerable adults.  All her sound equipment is PATs tested annually and all items display the appropriate stickers.

How long are your sets?

1 x 60 minutes
2 x 45 minutes

Weekend Package
3 x 45 minute non repetitive costume shows daily + an optional 1 x 60 minute evening cabaret.
Fiona is also able to tailor make sets from fast up tempo cabaret shows to gentle background music.

What makes your act different from other entertainers?

Fiona Harrison is a classically trained soprano and can effortlessly switch from Opera to Rock and Roll. She has a three octave vocal range and her trademarks are her medley arrangements and close harmony work. This she does by recording the two harmony parts onto her backing track and then singing the melody line live in performance making her act quite unique. With a wardrobe second to none and with over a thousand songs in her repertoire Fiona’s shows are always fresh and exciting. These not only display her talent for vintage glamour and authenticity, but her great vocal skill and a natural flare for comedy which she uses to full advantage when performing in cabaret and hosting events.

Do you work solely with backing tracks or can you be booked with a band?

All of Fiona’s backing tracks are unique and custom made to her own orchestral arrangements. This enables her to work anywhere in the world with the minimum amount of fuss and at a price most pockets can afford.
Although she doesn’t have her own band Fiona does have band parts, these include four and five piece arrangements consisting of Piano/Keyboards, Sax, Bass, Guitar and Drums. Big Band parts up to eighteen and twenty-two piece plus full Concert Band parts for Piccolo, Flute, Clarinet, Oboe, Alto, Tenor and Baritone Sax, Bassoon, French Horn, Cornet, Trumpet, Trombone, Bass and Percussion. Although Fiona does work with Big Bands vocally she is better suited to Concert Bands and Salon Orchestra line ups.
Some of Fiona’s credits include working with the George Thorby Glen Miller Orchestra, The Milton Keynes City Orchestra Big Band and The South Beds Concert Band.

Do you just sing the music of the 1940s?

No – Although Fiona is best known for the 1940s other periods within her repertoire include Victorian/Edwardian and WW1 Music Hall, The 1920s and 30s plus the Rock and Roll sounds of the 1950s, 60s & 70s. Are you available as a Host and Compere?

Yes – With over 20 years of experience Fiona is a seasoned professional entertainer and can command a room like no other – “Harrison works with intelligence, good timing and humour” Barbara Champion – The Stage.
A good anchor woman Fiona learnt the art of being a compere during her Red Coating days at The Metropole Hotel in Blackpool.
Today Fiona is available to host not only as herself but as her alter ego “Evette the Spivette” combing feminine playfulness with coquettish wit. With many different looks to choose from she can appear in her tails Vesta Tilley style, in an evening gown or as Evette in her skirt/trouser suit or even Burlesque style. Do you perform in Schools?

Yes – Fiona regularly goes into schools and performs the music of WW2 to tie in with the national curriculum. Her lesson plan concentrates on 4 different types of music – Big Band and Swing, Sing-along, Patriotic and the Novelty songs and focuses on how social events brought about the changes in popular Music. She also brings song sheets, props and visual aids and children are encouraged to make their own Union Jack flags which they can wave at the end of the show.

Can you run a singing workshop?

Yes – Suitable for ages 12 years up-wards to adults Fiona’s work-shop is all about building confidence and self esteem. Her lesson plan involves some basic breathing and singing techniques. Teaching a round, splitting the class into groups and then bringing every-one together for a performance at the end. Fiona’s work shop lasts between 40 to 60 minutes depending on each client’s requirements and can be tailored to suit.

How long will my quote be valid for and how do I know if the date is secure?

All quotes produced either verbally or in writing will be valid for 30 days from the date issued. On agreeing a date Fiona will issue a contract for the client to sign to confirm the fee and to secure the date and time. Only when the contract has been acknowledged, signed and returned is the date secure. Fiona only works with contracted engagements and companies are welcome to produce their own.

What can you offer in the way of advertising?

Fiona has a growing following on social media and will advertise any events she’s booked at fee of charge through her Facebook, Twitter and Blog pages. Her average viewing figures range from between 400 to a 1000 hits a week and she regularly up dates her Blog diary every two or three days. Where do you get your outfits from and do you wear vintage clothes all the time?

It is true Fiona does wear vintage clothes most of the time often mixing old with new. Some of her favourite haunts include “Ollie Vee’s” of Leighton Buzzard, “The One Legged Jockey” of Portsmouth, “Home and Colonial” of Berkhamsted and “Blitz Knits” of Hastings. Fiona regularly attends Vintage Fashion Fairs and often visits Hammersmith which holds a Fashion Fair once a month at the Town Hall. Are you available for modelling assignments?

Yes – Fiona is available as a character model and enjoys working with talented photographers who like to photograph fashion. She is an excellent stylist and with her amazing wardrobe Fiona is able to cover many historical periods from the 18th century to the 1960s.
